Step-by-step setup guide

Install an XML import application

Open the Shopify App Store and install one of the applications listed above. We recommend starting with Product XML Import by ProXI.

Create a new import

Open the installed app and choose New import, Add import or Add source. The exact wording depends on the application.

Add the XML feed URL

Contact info@esello.eu to receive your individual feed URL. Select XML URL as the source type.

Source type: XML URL
Feed URL: https://babyproducts.eu/••••••••.xml

Map the product fields

Connect each XML field with the correct Shopify field. Always use SKU as the unique matching identifier.

  • Product name → Product title
  • SKU → Unique identifier
  • Stock → Inventory quantity
  • Price → Product or variant price
  • Images → Product gallery

Configure synchronization

Enable importing new products and updating existing products. We recommend synchronization every 2–4 hours, subject to the selected plan.

  • Import new products
  • Update inventory and prices
  • Update images and descriptions
  • Match existing products by SKU

Run and review the first import

Start the import manually. Review several products, variants, prices, images and inventory values before publishing the full catalog.

What is synchronized — and what is not?

✅ Automatically synchronized

  • ✓New products
  • ✓Stock levels
  • ✓Wholesale prices from the feed
  • ✓Product titles and descriptions
  • ✓Product images
  • ✓Product variants, when correctly mapped
  • ✓Product availability
  • ✓Selected technical data, such as weight or EAN, when available

✕ Not synchronized through XML

  • ✕Customer orders placed in your Shopify store
  • ✕Order payments and refunds
  • ✕Shipment tracking numbers
  • ✕Your Shopify theme and page design
  • ✕Customer accounts and customer data
  • ✕Manually created collections, unless configured in the app
  • ✕SEO text edited directly in Shopify, unless overwrite is enabled
  • ✕Retail pricing rules unless configured in the import application
Important: The XML feed synchronizes product catalog data only. Orders must still be placed through your normal B2B ordering process or another separately agreed integration.

Recommended field mapping

The exact XML element names can differ between apps. Select the equivalent fields displayed by the selected application.

Shopify field XML field example Purpose
Product title name / title Product name
Description description Product description
Vendor manufacturer / brand Manufacturer or brand
Product type category Product classification
SKU sku / code Unique matching identifier
Barcode ean / gtin EAN or GTIN, when available
Price price Current wholesale price from the feed
Inventory quantity quantity / stock Available warehouse stock
Images image / image_url Main image and gallery
Weight weight Product shipping weight
Never match products by title. Titles can change. SKU should remain unchanged so that future synchronizations update existing products instead of creating duplicates.

First import and synchronization tips

First import

The first import may take longer because products, variants and images must be created and downloaded.

Later updates

Later runs normally update existing records. A schedule of every 2–4 hours is recommended.

Quality control

Check names, prices, stock, images, variants, taxes and shipping information before publishing.

Best practices for dropshipping stores

Protect synchronized fields

Avoid manually editing stock, wholesale price or other fields that are set to be overwritten by the feed.

Configure your retail margin

Set your own markup or pricing formula before the first full import, if supported by the app.

Define out-of-stock behavior

Decide whether unavailable products remain visible, become drafts or are removed from sales channels.

Organize imported products

Use product types, vendors, tags or automated collections to organize the catalog.

Review import logs

Regularly check for missing SKUs, image errors and mapping warnings.

Preserve the SKU

Do not change imported SKUs in Shopify. SKU is the key used in every future synchronization.

Frequently asked questions

How can I obtain the XML feed URL?

Contact info@esello.eu. The feed URL is provided individually to approved Babyproducts.eu B2B partners.

Which Shopify application do you recommend?

Our first recommendation is Product XML Import by ProXI. The second option is Stockeo, followed by Product XML Import – MyShop.

Do I need technical programming knowledge?

Usually not. You need to install an importer, add the XML URL and map the fields. More complex product variants may require assistance from the app provider.

How often should I synchronize my store?

We recommend every 2–4 hours. The available frequency depends on the selected application and subscription plan.

How long does the first import take?

It depends on the number of products, variants and images. It may take from several minutes to several hours.

Will existing products be updated?

Yes, provided that products are matched with the same SKU and the app is configured to update existing records.

How do I avoid duplicate products?

Use SKU as the unique identifier. Enable the update of existing products instead of creating a new product during every synchronization.

Can I import only selected products?

Many import applications support filters, categories or selected-product imports. Confirm this feature with the chosen app provider.

Can I apply my own retail margin?

Many applications support a fixed markup, percentage markup or pricing formula. Configure your retail pricing before publishing products.

Can I edit imported products in Shopify?

Yes, but any field configured for synchronization may be overwritten during the next update.

What happens when a product is out of stock?

The inventory quantity can be updated to zero. Product visibility depends on your Shopify and importer settings.

Are product images imported automatically?

Yes, when image fields are correctly mapped and image import or updating is enabled.

Are new products added automatically?

Yes, when automatic new-product importing is enabled in the application.

Are customer orders sent to Babyproducts.eu through XML?

No. The XML feed contains catalog information only. It does not transmit customer orders, payments or shipment data.

Will the import change my Shopify theme?

No. The import does not change your theme, page design or layout.

What should I include in a support request?

Include your Shopify store address, the app name, the affected SKU, screenshots of the mapping and the complete error message.

Need help with the integration?

Contact our B2B support team at info@esello.eu. Please include your Shopify store address, selected application, screenshots and any error message.
